The Art Law Centre is dedicated to teaching and research in the field of art and cultural property law. The Centre's activities were initially carried out under the auspices of the Art Law Foundation, created in 1991. Since the summer of 2009, the Centre has been fully integrated into the Faculty of Law of the University of Geneva, while continuing to benefit from the support of the Foundation.

The members of the Centre are regularly called upon to provide consultancy and expertise, both nationally and internationally. There are regular exchanges between Swiss organisations (such as the Federal Office of Culture, the Swiss Association of Museums, the Swiss UNESCO Commission, museums and public and private collections) and international organisations (including UNESCO, UNIDROIT, ICCROM and the Council of Europe).

The Centre's team currently consists of Prof. Antoinette Maget Dominicé, Prof. Hon. Marc-André Renold, a doctoral assistant, an administrative assistant and lecturers. Its activities are coordinated by the Director and the Steering Committee.

The Centre runs a library specializing in books and documents relating to cultural property and art law. Access is subject to prior registration at art-droit(at)unige.ch.
